Ms Whittow was called to the bar in 1984.
Ms. Whittow practices civil litigation and administrative law, with an emphasis on professional regulation. She acts as counsel in disciplinary and other hearings, provides policy advice to regulatory bodies and has chaired disciplinary panels.
Although Ms. Whittow’s practice is primarily dedicated to administrative law, she also has a broad range of experience in commercial litigation, including professional negligence and commercial disputes.
Prior to practicing with Hordo & Bennett, Ms. Whittow was the Deputy Executive Director and Director of Discipline and Professional Conduct at the Law Society of British Columbia.
Ms. Whittow formerly taught trial advocacy at the University of British Columbia Law School. In 2001 and 2003, Ms. Whittow acted as Course Chair at the Continuing Legal Education Seminar on Self-Governing Professions. She is a frequent speaker at UBC and elsewhere on the subject of professional regulation.
Ms. Whittow presently sits on the Law Society of BC's Disclosure and Privacy Task Force. She is also a member of both the Canadian and Vancouver Bar Associations.
Ms. Whittow has been appointed Queens Counsel by the B.C. Attorney General and recognized by Martindale-Hubbell with a BV (High to Very High Legal Ability) Peer Review Rating.
