Mr. Hordo has practiced civil litigation in British Columbia since 1977. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia as well as the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition, he has acted as counsel in numerous complex commercial arbitrations.
Mr. Hordo has a broad range of experience in complex litigation, including commercial and partnership disputes, securities and pension matters, professional negligence, class actions, aviation product liability, administrative law, and catastrophic personal injury.
He has been recognized by Lexpert Magazine, the National Post’s The Best Lawyers in Canada, the International Who's Who of Product Liability Lawyers, and Euromoney Institutional Investor’s Guide to the World's Leading Product Liability Lawyers, as one of Canada’s leading litigation counsel. Martindale-Hubbell has also honoured Mr. Hordo with an AV (Very High to Preeminent Legal Ability) Peer Review Rating.
Before practicing law, Mr. Hordo received a M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Manitoba and served as Policy Economist with the Manitoba Planning and Priorities Committee of Cabinet. Mr. Hordo studied law at the University of British Columbia, where he was awarded the 1976 Law Society Gold Medal for coming first in his class.
In addition to his abilities in the courtroom, Mr. Hordo is a skilled negotiator who has successfully negotiated numerous disputes involving hundreds of millions of dollars. Mr. Hordo has also lectured on negotiations at the University of British Columbia Law School.
Mr. Hordo is a member of the bar in British Columbia and the Yukon. He is also a member of both the Canadian and Vancouver Bar Associations. In 2002, Mr. Hordo was appointed Queens Counsel by the B.C. Attorney General.
